Los Angeles Class 1:96
The Los Angeles-Class submarine of the U.S. Navy is the epitome of the modern nuclear submarine. The elongated hull is reminiscent of a torpedo. The boats are fast, very elegant and functional. To keep the model interesting with its large surfaces, we sought out the finest details. We incorporated these into the model. To reproduce them in the model, we used the latest 3D printing technology. The result is just four hull sections with very smooth surfaces. Priming and painting is sufficient. The tedious sanding of the model surfaces to remove the 3D printed structures is no longer necessary!
The Los Angeles is a single-hull model with walls up to 4 mm thickness made of impact-resistant resin. This provides protection for the pressure hull during operations. The model is equipped with a 550 ml piston tank mounted forward of the submarine's center of gravity. This allows the bow to float further out of the water when surfaced, just like the original. The residual buoyancy was calculated so that the model floats true to the original on the waterline.
The central unit is the 550 ml piston tank, which we developed and delivered pre-assembled. This is followed by two sections that are connected by flanges. This allows for rapid assembly of the technology in a single day. Robust standard servos for controlling the rudders are housed in the rear. A powerful 540 brushed motor provides the necessary propulsion. We offer a water-cooled brushless motor as an option for the Los Angeles 1:96 kit, providing brute thrust. We are happy to answer any questions.
The propeller is now screwed onto the stainless steel shaft. For this, we brought Martin Kunze (MK Modellbau) on board. The drive shafts, as well as the optional electronics from Norbert Brüggen (Tauchrobotershop), are made in Germany. Oto Gerza (RCSUBS.CZ) manufactures the markings for your submarine, which are included in the delivery. Speaking of electronics: If you don't like LiPos, there's plenty of room for your own solutions.
